"WHY DO YOU CALL ME LORD?"
by Kevin Rutherford
Jesus said, "But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not the things which I say (Luke 6:46)?" Following this question Christ gave the parable of the wise and foolish builders to illustrate His point. The wise man hears Jesus Christ and obeys Him. That wise man that does so is building his life upon a solid foundation. The foolish man hears Christ but does not obey. He is building his life upon a foundation of sand.
Those who are members of man made denominations call Jesus "Lord" but do not obey Him. They are building upon a foundation of sand. Those who are erring members of the Lord’s church (whether in doctrine or action) may call Jesus "Lord" but they are not obeying Him. They are building upon a foundation of sand.
How can we know whether or not we are obeying Christ? We can know we are obedient to Him when we are involved in constant study and application of His Word. Jesus gave His Word to mankind through inspired men (John 16:13). Be faithful to the New Testament and you will build upon a solid foundation.
Is your foundation solid or sandy?
